My Philosophy and Approach
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that we are all doing the best we can with the resources and experiences available to us. I am committed to treating people holistically, addressing all aspects of wellness—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. By combining evidence-based practices with holistic approaches, I create a warm and welcoming environment that fosters self-healing and growth. In my therapy practice, I prioritize a gentle, steady path forward—clients don’t experience the typical “worse before better” cycle. Instead, I work with them to heal past wounds, address present struggles, and prepare for a future of resilience, so the only reason they may return to therapy is if new challenges arise. I welcome all people, regardless of gender, identity, or ability, creating an inclusive space where everyone can feel seen, heard, and supported in their journey toward healing.
Certifications
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
I was trained in EMDR both before and after the onset of COVID-19, an experience that has significantly shaped my ability to be flexible and adaptable in my clinical work. Navigating the shift from in-person to virtual sessions during a time of global uncertainty required me to quickly adjust my approach while maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of trauma-focused care. This dual perspective—grounded in traditional, face-to-face training and refined through the demands of remote therapy—has strengthened my confidence in meeting clients wherever they are, both physically and emotionally, and has reinforced the importance of resilience and creativity in the healing process.
Internal Family Systems
In 2025 I earned a certification in IFS. I blend the use of parts, self and EMDR to create an intensive and inclusive healing process.
Yin Yoga
I’m currently working towards my Yin yoga certification because I deeply believe in the vital connection between the mind and body in the healing process. Trauma doesn’t just affect our thoughts; it’s stored in our bodies, and I see yoga as a powerful tool for releasing that stored tension and fostering a sense of grounding. By integrating Yin yoga into my therapeutic practice, I aim to help clients reconnect with their bodies in a gentle, restorative way, supporting them in their journey toward healing and balance.
Sex Therapist (In progress)
I am currently pursuing a certification in sex therapy because I believe that sex, sexuality, and comprehensive sexual education are integral to our overall well-being and happiness. Healthy sexual expression is a key component of self-identity, connection, and emotional intimacy, yet it’s often overlooked or stigmatized in many therapeutic settings. By becoming certified in sex therapy, I aim to provide a safe, open space for individuals and couples to explore their sexuality, address challenges, and build a more fulfilling, authentic connection with themselves and others. I’m passionate about breaking down the barriers around sexual health and helping people feel empowered in their bodies and relationships.
Education
2007-2011
Bachelors of Science
Plattsburgh State University
At Plattsburgh, I studied psychology, neurology, and gerontology, where I had the opportunity to publish and create several research studies focused on group cohesion, work ethic, and resiliency. While conducting research, I also interned at the Mood and Memory Clinic, where I gained valuable experience in evaluating and treating individuals and families affected by neurodegenerative diseases, particularly dementia. This hands-on work deepened my understanding of how these conditions impact both individuals and their loved ones, and it fueled my passion for supporting people through the challenges of aging and cognitive decline.
2011-2013
Masters of Science
University Of Rochester, Margaret Warner School of Education and Human Development
My master's program was highly competitive, with only 15 students selected from hundreds of applicants based on our potential, resiliency, and drive to learn. Throughout the program, I studied a wide range of topics, was elected to student council, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. During this time, I founded a mental health advocacy group and rallied support from three major schools in the area to push for greater mental health visibility in government. My efforts focused on making mental health care more accessible by advocating for more affordable education, better wages for clinicians, and streamlined licensure processes, all aimed at improving access to treatment for those in need.
My
Story

My journey to now
My journey to becoming a therapist has been deeply personal and shaped by diverse and transformative experiences. I began with internships in a county jail and an inner-city clinic, where I saw firsthand the impact of systemic challenges on mental health. After graduating, I worked in an inpatient unit, gaining critical clinical experience before transitioning into private practice, where I focused on supporting teenagers and families. While working in a rural area, I learned to provide gender-affirming care in a community that often struggled with acceptance and diversity. Becoming a parent reshaped my perspective, and I later focused my work on young adults and adults healing from trauma, earning my EMDR certification along the way. After the birth of my second child, I restarted my life and career in Rhode Island, and began my own journey of healing. This phase led me to pursue certification as a sex therapist, begin training in yin yoga, and become certified in both Internal Family Systems and Reiki I. Together, these experiences have deepened my empathy, enriched my practice, and fueled my passion for helping others live more authentic and fulfilling lives.
